The First Edition Mortlach Wine Finished In Japanese Whisky Casks is quite a rare, and highly sought-after whisky. Mortlach Distillery is located in Dufftown, Scotland and has become iconic for its sherry-casked whiskies. This special expression was aged for a 13 year period in Mortlach’s signature sherry-casks, before transferring to an umeshu cask from Japanese Whisky distillery. It has a unique nose of orange, honey and rose petals, accompanying the classic sherry notes. The palate smoothers out, with brown sugar, honeyed fruit and dark chocolate flavours. The finish is rich, with deep notes of plum, dates, cedar wood and spice. Only 5000 bottles of this special release were made, making it scarce and highly prized. It is a fantastic whisky that showcases Mortlach’s famous sherry-aged whisky, paired with a unique blend of flavours that can only be found as a finish in Japanese Whisky Casks.
